Fire Inspection & Code Enforcement

Fire Inspection and Code enforcement is a very important part of the work accomplished by the fire department. The Fire Inspection Division in Brooksville is made up of State Certified Fire Safety Inspectors who work together as a team to foster a fire-safe community. The City is required by State Law to conduct inspections and adopt minimum fire safety standards. Our inspection team enforces the fire codes established by City Ordinance and the Florida Fire Prevention Code.

The Fire Chief is established as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in accordance with the Fire Code. A District Chief currently serves as the Fire Marshal providing direction and oversight to the Fire Inspector.

The Fire Department has a Fire Inspector that works Monday through Friday performing the daily, routine work of the program. The Brooksville Fire Department currently provides the following fire inspection services:

• Plans Review for all new construction and fire protection systems
• New Construction Fire Inspections
• Inspection of all State Licensed facilities
• All fire protection system inspections
• Annual inspections of all public buildings and existing business occupancies
• Special Event Fire and Life Safety
