Great Brooksvillian Screening Committee
Overview
The Great Brooksvillian Screening Committee, appointed annually by the City Council as set forth in Policy Number 2-2012, consists of five members who review the Great Brooksvillian nominations each year. The Committee will not meet again until 2027 because the Great Brooksvillian recipients for 2025, 2026, and 2027 have already been determined by the City Council at a regular City Council meeting on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Congratulations to 2025 Great Brooksvillian: Martha Maner!
For over 30 years, Martha has been an active member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World. Rising through the ranks to become exalted ruler and daughter ruler of Frederick Kelly Elks Lodge No. 1270 and Kelley’s Temple No. 1004, she now serves as President of the Florida Women Deputies of Elk, a member of Emma V. Kelly Council No. 61, a member of the National President Council of Elks, and State President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the IBPOEW.
Martha has always led with both vision and heart. She helped establish the Frederick Kelly Lodge’s weekend breakfast program, coordinated nightly dinners to feed families during the COVID-19 lockdown, and continues to host an annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community. Her kindness extends into every corner of life in Brooksville—supporting young mothers, assisting with funeral repasts, wedding receptions, birthday celebrations, and contributing to the work of organizations such as the South Brooksville Tax Redevelopment Advisory Committee, CRA, and the Togetherhood Program of the YMCA.
Her nomination speaks to who she is at her core: “These acts, among others, have made Martha a crown mother in the community: a wise, respectful, generous, and nurturing woman who others can depend on. She is the ambassador of South Brooksville and engages in all needed services to improve the community.”
Martha Maner’s legacy is one of compassion, commitment, and community. She is, and will continue to be, a guiding light and source of strength for Brooksville!
